Student Discounts: UNiDAYS, Student Beans and Brand Offers

Student discounts work by proving you are in education once, then getting codes or prices for a set period. UNiDAYS and Student Beans check your status with an institution email or student ID and ask you to re-confirm every 12 months; brands such as Apple, Nike, Samsung and Spotify run their own checks, sometimes through these platforms or SheerID. What you can get depends heavily on your country.

How student discount platforms work

UNiDAYS and Student Beans sit between students and brands. You prove you are a student once, and the platform then gives you codes for online shopping and a digital ID to show in store. Both are free to join.

  • UNiDAYS: membership gives 12 months of deals, then you re-confirm (UNiDAYS). Single-use codes can usually be reissued about once an hour. Multi-use codes work only for the account holder. In store you show your UNiDAYS iD in the app, with your photo (redeem a code).
  • Student Beans: online you copy a code; in store you show your Student Beans iD. You re-confirm once a year, which Student Beans says takes about two minutes, and you get a reminder before it lapses (how it works).

UNiDAYS codes only work in their own country, and brands can exclude sale items.

Proving you are a student

UNiDAYS confirms you automatically at most approved institutions. Otherwise it accepts your own institution email (not Gmail, Yahoo or alumni addresses), a card-style student ID, your school portal login, or an uploaded document showing your name and institution and valid this year. Passports and driving licences are not accepted. The minimum age is 16, parents cannot register for a child, and apprentices and trainees also qualify (UNiDAYS eligibility). Checks using a physical ID can take up to 7 days at busy times.

Student Beans confirms you instantly if your email domain is recognised; new institutions are checked by hand. You must be in full-time education and have an institution email or a card-style student iD (Student Beans).

Some brands use SheerID instead, including Nike in the US and Spotify Premium Student.

Brands that run their own programmes

  • Nike (US only): 10% off most items for high-school and college students aged 16+, checked through SheerID. You get a single-use code that expires two weeks after it is issued, used while signed in. It can only be combined with free-shipping codes (Nike). We found no confirmed details for Nike student offers outside the US.
  • Samsung (US): students, teachers and faculty qualify with a .edu email on a Samsung Account, or through ID.me, Student Beans or UNiDAYS. Samsung advertises "up to 30% off" and says the savings combine with public and seasonal offers (Samsung).
  • Apple education pricing: in the US, open to current and newly accepted college students and their parents, plus faculty, staff and homeschool teachers (Apple). In the UK it runs through UNiDAYS: students aged 16+ and education staff qualify, prices show automatically with no code, and the check can take up to 48 hours. A parent can pay, but the student must confirm on UNiDAYS first (UNiDAYS Apple FAQ). Apple's limits on how many items you can buy were not available when we checked.
  • Spotify Premium Student: checked through SheerID. Your account country must match where you study, and only schools listed on the SheerID form qualify. You renew every 12 months, for up to four years (Spotify help).
  • GitHub Student Developer Pack: free offers for students aged 13+ in a degree- or diploma-granting programme, including high school and homeschool. Proof can be a school ID, class schedule, transcript or enrolment letter; some schools also require an academic email (GitHub Docs).
  • Grammarly: Grammarly for Education is sold to institutions. The pages we read do not mention a discount for individual students (Grammarly).

In India, UNiDAYS says Aadhaar and other government IDs are not accepted for the Apple check (UNiDAYS India Apple FAQ). For the UAE and Saudi Arabia, we could not confirm a full UNiDAYS or Student Beans deals catalogue beyond Apple Music in the UAE, so expect most student savings there to come from brands directly.

After you graduate

Both platforms have graduate schemes. UNiDAYS GRADLiFE is open only to people who were UNiDAYS members while studying, and its GB homepage says graduates get three extra years (UNiDAYS). Student Beans graduate offers last five years after graduating; the course must have lasted at least 12 months, you prove it with documents, and you cannot hold a student and a graduate account at once (Student Beans graduate).

Stacking rules and what we could not confirm

Student codes usually count as your one code for the order. Nike's can only be paired with free shipping, while Samsung US says its education pricing combines with public and seasonal offers. Brands can also exclude sale items.

We could not confirm current official terms for Amazon Prime Student, Canva for Education, Samsung UK education offers or ASOS's student discount, so we do not quote them here. Check those brands' own pages before you buy.

Questions people ask

How often do I need to re-confirm my student status?

UNiDAYS and Student Beans both ask you to re-confirm every 12 months. Spotify Premium Student also renews every 12 months, for up to four years.

Can I use a passport to prove I am a student?

Not on UNiDAYS. It does not accept passports or driving licences. Use an institution email, a card-style student ID, your school portal login or an official document showing your name and institution.

Do student discounts work in the UAE and Saudi Arabia?

Some do. Apple runs an education store in the UAE, and Spotify Premium Student is offered in both countries. Student Beans does not list either country, and the UNiDAYS UAE page showed only Apple Music when we checked.

Can parents buy with a student discount?

For Apple in the UK a parent can pay, but the student must confirm on UNiDAYS first. Apple US, UAE and India education stores also include parents of eligible students. UNiDAYS does not let parents register on behalf of a child.
