Cash on delivery and local payment
- Amazon.ae: no cash on delivery for orders shipping to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain or Oman (Amazon.ae COD). Qatar is not named on that list, but export orders are paid by international card or gift card.
- Namshi: COD costs USD 9 in Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait. It is not available for "leave at my door" or locker deliveries (Namshi COD).
- Sephora: no cash on delivery in Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain or Oman (Sephora FAQ).
- talabat: local card networks are accepted alongside Visa, Mastercard and American Express. That means K-Net in Kuwait, Benefit debit cards in Bahrain and Oman Net in Oman. Qatar lists American Express, Mastercard and Visa (talabat FAQ).
Currencies and conversion
Local stores price in Kuwaiti dinar (KWD), Qatari riyal (QAR), Bahraini dinar (BHD) and Omani rial (OMR). Cross-border sites may not:
- Amazon.ae prices and charges export orders in UAE dirhams. Refunds are in dirhams at the conversion rate on the day of the refund (Amazon.ae international returns).
- Namshi charges its below-threshold delivery fee in US dollars (Namshi).
If your card charges a foreign-currency fee, that comes on top of the price.
Customs and import fees
- Amazon.ae estimates an Import Fees Deposit for export orders. The recipient is the importer of record, and some customs offices ask for ID such as a passport or tax number. Some destinations waive fees below a de minimis value, and Amazon tells you to check with your local customs office (Amazon.ae customs).
- noon Global Store works the same way. It collects an import fees deposit at checkout, calculated on the pre-promotion price, and refunds any overpayment automatically (noon help).
- Namshi asks for ID details for all orders in Qatar, and for Oman orders, to clear customs (Namshi help).
- Qatar: in line with the GCC Customs Union, Qatar charges a 5% duty on the CIF value of general goods, with more than 600 duty-exempt goods (Invest Qatar).
We could not confirm current duty-free thresholds for personal parcels from the customs authorities of Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain or Oman, so none are quoted here.
Returning a cross-border order
Amazon.ae export returns usually go back within 15 days of delivery and can take up to 30 days to reach Amazon. If you pay for your own return label, Amazon refunds up to AED 80 of postage. For defective, damaged or wrong items, Amazon refunds the full postage and your import fees deposit (Amazon.ae international returns).
Namshi refunds shipping fees if an order is cancelled after shipping (Namshi). Sephora refunds cash-on-delivery orders in cash at the store (Sephora).
